A couple weeks ago, I didn’t even know Sidecar Doughnuts existed. It was only when I was having a conversation with a friend named Joe who was born and raised in Long Beach, California, that I was first exposed to the best doughnuts in the world. We were in a little town in Connecticut where I am from, and where Joe has moved to this year to be a Youth Pastor. I was telling Joe that I believe the only thing this town is missing is a good gourmet doughnut shop; somewhere the town could flood into on a Sunday morning to pick up a dozen fresh doughnuts for the family. “I have an idea!” Joe said. He was flying back to California to visit his family in Long Beach the next week and told me he’d bring me back the best gourmet doughnuts he’d ever had. The morning he was to fly back to Connecticut, he stood in line and bought two dozen Sidecar Doughnuts. Me and a couple friends made the drive out to JFK airport to pick him up that night. And at about 11pm, Joe triumphantly emerged from the crowd holding two boxes of fresh Sidecar Doughnuts. They traveled 3,000 miles, from the hands of Sidecar employees, into the hands and mouths of some Connecticut folk who have never had a better doughnut. Thanks Joe! And thanks Sidecar Doughnuts!
